This is a photo of the most popular tourist area in Shanghai - Nanjing Road. It is evening, so you can see that there are a great many lights on this road.
Shanghai is now Al's least favorite Chinese city as it is very tourist-oriented, and on Nanjing Road, you will be asked about 100 times if you want to buy a watch, buy a handbag, or want a massage. Plus, since Al was alone on some of these sightseeing walks, quite a few Chinese women (and some men) asked him if he wanted a date. Yeah, right.
Ignoring them did not work much as it has for us in the past. So, finally, Al found that saying, "I don't speak English," made them take pause and back off.
